Preadmission Testing and Scheduled Admissions
Before a scheduled admission to Saint Vincent, you will be asked to make an appointment for preadmission testing. To schedule your appointment, you will need to call the preadmission testing department at 452-5232.
When you arrive for testing, you will go to admitting in the main lobby to complete some paperwork. Please bring your driver's license, or other identification, and insurance card, so that we can copy it and then immediately return it to you.
Your testing will include blood and urine samples, an electrocardiogram (EKG), and a chest X-ray. The tests are conducted in a private testing room.
As part of the preadmission process, a nurse will instruct you on the care appropriate for your surgery or medical stay. If you are scheduled to have surgery, a representative from the anesthesia department will meet with you to answer questions.
Admitting
On the day of your admission, your first stop should be the admitting area, in the main lobby. With testing and paperwork already out of the way, you will receive an identification bracelet, and an escort will take you to your room.
We encourage you to bring certain personal belongings, but please leave valuables and electrical devices such as radios at home. Saint Vincent cannot be responsible for money and other valuables or personal property kept in your room.
Outpatient Registration
If you are coming to Saint Vincent for outpatient testing, please register at the admitting and outpatient registration area in the main lobby. Remember to bring some form of identification, such as your driver's license; your insurance card; and the written orders you've received from your physician. Your insurance provider can advise you if a referral or precertification is required before you receive services. After registering, you will be directed to the appropriate testing area.
