Community Partnership Encourages Gardeners to Donate Produce
Saint Vincent Health Center, Erie Insurance Group and the Times Publishing Company are teaming up with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania this harvest season by encouraging backyard gardeners to donate their extra fruits and vegetables to help those in need throughout the Erie area.
This community partnership called Community Harvest for Hunger is the joint effort of three Erie businesses that have offered to lend a hand in collecting produce during the growing season. Community Harvest for Hunger will be held from August 11 through October 3rd.
The Second Harvest Food Bank will accept donated fresh produce at their new location, 1507 Grimm Drive between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Saint Vincent Health Center will have a drop off location on Mondays on West 25th & Myrtle between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and noon. On Wednesdays, Erie Insurance will collect outside of their front entrance on West 6th & French from 7:00 a.m. until noon. The Times Publishing Company will gather on Fridays in their parking lot on West 12th between Sassafras and Myrtle from 7:00 a.m. until noon.
Please join us in this community effort. All fresh produce will be accepted whether it's from your garden or your grocery cart. |
