At the Saint Vincent Diabetes Resource Center, we know that the complications associated with your diabetes are preventable through proper self-care.  Recognized by the American Diabetes Association, our staff provides a full range of instructional services.  Our educators use a team approach, which encourages family members to participate.  With proper education, individuals who have diabetes can live fulfilling, healthy lives.

Services

The certified diabetes educators (CDE’s) at the Saint Vincent Diabetes Resource Center focus on self-management skills, prevention of complications, education and support to you and your family.

Our services include:

      •    Individualized education sessions
      •    Group classes
      •    Insulin administration training
      •    Home glucose monitoring training
      •    Insulin pump education and training
      •    Gestational Diabetes education and training <
      •    Community Outreach Services

Support

After you have completed your education program, staff members at the Saint Vincent Diabetes Resource Center are available by phone to answer any questions you may have.  In addition, a monthly support group meeting is offered.  Call the Diabetes Resources Center for dates and monthly topics

How to Participate

Referral by your family physician is required.  Many major medical insurance carriers, including Medicare, offer reimbursement for recognized diabetes education programs.  Check with your insurance carrier or call the Saint Vincent Diabetes Resource Center at 864-0038.  Staff members will be happy to assist you with any insurance and payment question you have.

Location

Classes are held at the Diabetes Resource Center located at the Saint Vincent Peach Street Medical Building, 3530 Peach Street, Erie, PA.

Educational Staff

All Saint Vincent Diabetes Resource Center nurses and dietitians are certified by the American Association of Diabetes Educators.
